ÀÏ˾»úapp Wins Two ABC Excellence in Construction Awards
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (August 28, 2018) — ÀÏ˾»úapp, a fully integrated firm focused on design, engineering, construction and mechanical services worldwide, has received two Excellence in Construction Awards from the Florida First Coast Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Winners were recognized on August 24 at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville.
ÀÏ˾»úapp won an Eagle Award for its renovation of the historic Herrmann Hall at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. The ÀÏ˾»úapp team demolished and remodeled two of the hotel’s 20,000-square-foot floors to completely modernize and remodel guest rooms, bathrooms and corridors, while still maintaining the character of the century-old building. The project included custom-designed finishes as well as special construction workarounds to meet historic preservation standards and regulations.
The construction of a new residence hall and parking garage at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, also earned ÀÏ˾»úapp a Pyramid Award from ABC. ÀÏ˾»úapp partnered with PQH Architects to build:
Abare Hall, a new three-story, 75-unit student residence hall
A new five-level, 556-space, precast parking garage
A two-story commons building
The commons building is connected to both the new Abare Hall and another existing residence hall to accommodate 148 total residents. The project included a new fitness center, laundry rooms, a convenience store, offices and a multipurpose area.
ABC's Excellence in Construction program is the industry’s leading award competition, recognizing outstanding construction projects in a variety of categories. Evaluation criteria include project safety, quality control, scheduling, innovative productivity, obstacles overcome in the course of the project, and more.
