ÀÏ˾»úapp Wins Three 2019 ABC Excellence in Construction Awards

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (August 26, 2019) â€” ÀÏ˾»úapp, a fully integrated firm focused on design, engineering, construction and mechanical services worldwide, has received three Excellence in Construction Awards from the Florida First Coast Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Winners were recognized on August 23 at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront.

ÀÏ˾»úapp won an Eagle award from ABC for its renovation of Jacksonville University’s Williams Hall. The two-phase, multimillion-dollar project modernized the freshmen Residential Living and Learning Space and incorporated ADA-compliant design features. The 50-year-old, four-story building was updated to include new restrooms, new flooring, open lounges and study rooms on each floor.

ÀÏ˾»úapp won a Pyramid Award for its design and construction of the U.S. Cold Storage food distribution facility in Laredo, Texas. The $35 million greenfield project was completed on an aggressive, eight-month schedule driven by the timing of the Mexican strawberry harvest. The 232,366-square-foot warehouse features a -10°F freezer area, a 35°F cooler area, a refrigerated loading dock with 21 truck doors and 24,000 square feet of office space.

ÀÏ˾»úapp also won a Pyramid Award for its renovation of the Tom Bush Volkswagen dealership in Jacksonville. The ÀÏ˾»úapp team renovated the 10,000-square-foot facility to create an open showroom floor and an updated exterior that aligns with the Volkswagen brand. Upgrades included a redesigned customer lounge, an expanded showroom to accommodate a new line of SUVs, illuminated metal panel framing on the exterior and installation of pre-wiring for electric car chargers.

ABC's Excellence in Construction program is the industry’s leading award competition, recognizing outstanding construction projects in a variety of categories. Evaluation criteria include project safety, quality control, scheduling, innovative productivity, obstacles overcome in the course of the project and more.
